200gsm Carbon Fiber Fabric represents the most widely used areal weight in the composites industry. This weight strikes the optimal balance between handling, mechanical performance, and cost-efficiency. At 200 grams per square meter, the fabric provides sufficient thickness for structural applications while maintaining excellent drape and conformability. The fabric is available in plain, twill, and satin weaves with 3k and 6k tow sizes. The 200gsm weight is suitable for single-ply cosmetic applications or multi-ply structural laminates. Compatible with all resin systems and processing methods, this fabric is the default choice for engineers and composite manufacturers worldwide.

200gsm offers the best balance of thickness, handling, and mechanical performance. It is thick enough for single-ply structural parts, yet thin enough to drape over moderate contours. It is widely stocked, cost-effective, and compatible with all processing methods.

200gsm plain weave is stiffer and more stable, ideal for flat panels and tooling. 200gsm twill weave has a diagonal pattern, better drape, and a premium cosmetic finish. Twill is preferred for visible applications and curved surfaces.

For structural thickness, 2 to 6 layers are typically used. Each layer adds approximately 0.26 mm of cured thickness. Determine the required total thickness based on your structural analysis and design requirements.

Yes. 200gsm is well-suited for vacuum infusion. The moderate weight allows good resin flow without excessive permeability. Use flow media for panels larger than 1 m². Recommended resin viscosity: 80–300 cP.

With vacuum bagging: 50% – 55%. With compression molding or autoclave: 55% – 60%. The 200gsm weight allows excellent compaction without fiber distortion, producing consistent laminate quality.
