Satin weave carbon fiber fabric (4H and 8H harness) engineered with a chemical-resistant sizing system optimized for exposure to corrosive media and pharmaceutical agents. The satin construction provides superior drapability over complex geometries with a smooth surface finish. The fabric exhibits tensile strength of 4,000-4,800 MPa and retains 92 percent of mechanical properties after 1,000 hours immersion in saline solution (3.5 percent NaCl) and 88 percent after exposure to common pharmaceutical solvents including ethanol, isopropanol, and acetic acid. Available in 3K tow with areal weight of 200-300 gsm and standard widths of 100-1,500 mm. The sizing system is FDA-compliant for indirect food contact applications.

Chemical compatibility with specific drug solutions
The fabric has been tested for compatibility with ethanol (70 percent), isopropanol (70 percent), acetic acid (5 percent), sodium hydroxide (5 percent), and saline (3.5 percent). For specific drug formulations, compatibility testing is recommended to confirm resistance to active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Sterilization method compatibility
Compatible with autoclave (121°C, 15 psi, 30 minutes), ethylene oxide (EtO), and gamma radiation (up to 25 kGy). Steam sterilization may cause slight surface yellowing but does not affect mechanical properties or chemical resistance.
Resin system recommendations for chemical resistance
For optimal chemical resistance, pair with epoxy resins formulated for chemical immersion (e.g., bisphenol A epoxy or novolac epoxy). Vinyl ester and polyester resins also compatible but may offer reduced chemical resistance in acidic environments.
Temperature limitations for chemical resistance
The chemical-resistant sizing maintains integrity from -40°C to 180°C. Above 180°C, the sizing may soften, reducing chemical barrier properties. Continuous exposure above 200°C requires high-temperature resin systems with specialized sizing.
